Gifted and Talented Programs and Services

Program
District 834 provides a comprehensive and robust Gifted and Talented Program that includes

  • An identification system based on current research and best practice, using multiple assessments and procedures that are valid, reliable, and fair
  • Comprehensive curriculum with an aligned array of tiered services and instructional strategies
  • District culture and values supportive of G & T philosophy and approaches
  • Professional development across a continuum of staff needs
  • Alignment of resources, structures and systems to meet the needs of all students

 

Gifted and Talented Students
Gifted and Talented children and youth are those students with outstanding abilities, identified at preschool, elementary, and secondary levels. These students are capable of high performance when compared to others of similar age, experience and environment, and represent the diverse populations of our communities. These are students whose potential requires differentiated and challenging educational programs and/or services beyond those provided in general school programs. Students capable of high performance include those with demonstrated achievement or potential ability in any one or more of the following areas:

  • General Intellectual
  • Specific Academic Subjects
  • Creativity
  • Leadership
  • Visual and Performing Arts and
  • Psychomotor ability

Eligibility

In response to extensive study by the Task Force for the Enhancement of Gifted and Talented Services and Programs, Stillwater Area Public Schools has adopted research-based best-practice assessments to determine which students need specialized instructional services and programs to meet their full potential.
