Early Childhood

Our mission is to strengthen families and communities, support parents in providing the best possible environment for the growth and development of their children and help all children, including those with disabilities, reach their greatest potential.

A new Early Childhood Family Center building is being constructed on the north side of the Stillwater Junior High campus. The center will provide space for a variety of classes to support families and help young children (birth to age 5) develop a solid foundation for learning and will be open this fall.

Afton-Lakeland Elementary

The Stillwater Area Schools ISD 834 is located in east central Minnesota. Afton-Lakeland has approximately 500 students in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Andersen Elementary

Andersen Elementary in Bayport, Minnesota is a kindergarten through sixth grade school with approximately 355 students.  Our goal at Andersen is to see each student grow to his/her highest potential academically, socially, emotionally and physically.  We have a safe and caring school where each child is valued for the person they are and the contributions they bring to Andersen. We have terrific kids!

Welcome to Lily Lake Elementary School located in Stillwater, Minnesota and in the heart of the beautiful St. Croix River Valley. Lily Lake Elementary is one of nine elementary schools in Independent School District 834.  We offer full day kindergarten and first through sixth grade traditional classrooms. Our educational program is designed to help each child reach their academic potential while at the same time help them develop the skills to be outstanding citizens in our community. We have a safe and caring school where each child is valued for the person they are and the contributions they bring to Lily Lake.

Marine Elementary

Welcome to Marine Elementary School! We invite you to discover our wonderful learning community located in Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota. Our cozy, little school has 7 classrooms in Kindergarten through Grade 6. We offer free full-day kindergarten in a traditional classroom setting and are proud to incorporate STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics) curriculum in all grades.

Oak Park Elementary

Oak Park Elementary is a community of about 470 learners representing a wide array of ages and abilities. In addition to our traditional kindergarten through sixth grade classrooms, we are also are home to a preschool program, a district-wide K-3 autism classroom, and a school-within-a-school Gifted and Talented program. The diversity of our student body makes Oak Park an exciting and welcoming place to learn and grow.

Rutherford Elementary

Student achievement is a central theme at Rutherford.  State Standards, District Curriculum, and Creative Opportunities support a foundation for al students to meet academic success. Rutherford is a well-designed open-spaced facility that provides a framework for multi-age instruction and class areas where staff is able to incorporate differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students. Students and teachers value teamwork to promote high academic achievement in all curricular areas.

Stonebridge Elementary

Established in 1971, Stonebridge is a school where students progress from one colony to another as they meet individual, social, emotional, and academic goals. Stonebridge also accommodates student learning styles, develops independence for students, promotes responsibility, and implements full inclusion of all special needs children.

Oak-Land Junior High

Oak-Land Jr. High is one of two junior highs that serve the Stillwater Area School District. The majority of our student population (approximately 900 students in grades 7-8-9) come from Lake Elmo, Bayport (Andersen), and Afton-Lakeland elementary schools. We serve the attendance area communities of Afton-Lakeland, Bayport, Lake Elmo, Portions of Oak Park, Stillwater and Woodbury.

Stillwater Junior High School

Stillwater Junior High School boasts an outstanding teaching staff. The teachers at Stillwater Junior High School value each student and work diligently to help all students reach their highest levels of achievement. 65% of the teachers at Stillwater Junior High School have earned a Master’s degree or beyond and 68% of the staff have been teaching for over 10 years.

Stillwater Area High School

Stillwater Area High School (SAHS) was designed to provide a personal education in a beautiful, campus-like setting that celebrates the uniqueness of the St. Croix River Valley. Stillwater Area High School was recently recognized with the Red Quill Award from ACT. 

Alternative Education

St. Croix Valley Area Learning Center

St. Croix Valley Area Learning Center is a secondary school designed for those students who meet the Minnesota Graduations Incentive Criteria for at-risk students, and who are between the ages of 16 to 20 years old (or 21 if you have a disability) for the ALC program, and at least 15 years old for the ALC Grade Ten Program. The program offers small classes, individual attention, and non-traditional approaches to learning.

Targeted Services

Classes are offered to eligible students in grades 1-8.  Days and times vary from site to site with some before school and others after school.  Summer Success classes are offered at three air-conditioned sites in late July into early August.
