Gerard (Jerry) Jones

Director of Orchestras

Mr. Jones began teaching in 1976 and joined Stillwater Area Public Schools in 2004. He teaches Concert Orchestra, Varsity Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra and Con Amici Chamber Orchestra.

Before coming to Stillwater, he taught for 20 years at Duluth East High School where he founded the Sterling Strings, a curricular string orchestra that includes strolling, quartet performances, composition and standard string orchestra performances.  Before teaching at Duluth East, Mr. Jones taught at Denfeld High School in Duluth and Central Junior High School in Superior, WI.  During his tenure in Duluth, he was a member of both the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra and the Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra.

Mr. Jones is a member of National Association for Music Education, the Minnesota String and Orchestra Teachers Association, the American String Teachers Association, and the Minnesota Astronomical Society. He holds a Master of Music Degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
