Student Success Stories

Stillwater Area Public Schools’ students have a proud tradition of excellence. We have students excelling in music, fine arts, activities, academics and athletics at all grade levels (from elementary to high school). The following is a sample of accomplishments from the 2010-2011 school year compiled from Stillwater Area High School, which represents the many successes occurring across the district every day.


Academics

  • 96 percent graduation rate

  • 80 percent of graduates went on to 2 or 4 year college

  • Approximately 1,000 students earned college credit while attending Stillwater Area Public Schools

  • National Merit Scholars (4 Commended; 3 Semi-Finalists; 3 Finalists)

  • Advanced Placement (86 students AP Scholars; 45 AP Scholars with Distinction; 3 students AP National Scholars)

  • 129 new members inducted into National Honor Society


Fine Arts

Minnesota State High School League Awards:

  • Solo/Ensemble Contest - Superior Ratings: Choir 43, Band 26, Orchestra 13, Total 81. Perfect Scores: Choir 5, Band, 2, total 7. Best of Site Awards: Choir 4, Band 2, Orchestra 2, total: 8. All Conference Musicians: Choir 12, Band, 10, Orchestra 2, total 43.
  • All State Musicians - Orchestra – 4 students; Jazz Band – 2 students; Choir – 4 students. Superior Rating in Large Group Contest - The Stillwater Choir; Belle Chanter; Varsity Women’s Choir;  Varsity Men’s Choir; Concert Band; Varsity Band; Symphonic Band; The Stillwater Concert Orchestra; The Con Amici Chamber Orchestra


Athletics

  • In the state, Stillwater placed fourth in the Challenge Cup, which ranks all schools according to Athletics and Academic competitions
  • Since 1913, Stillwater has had 55 Minnesota State High School League State Championships Individual student achievements
  • 115 students earned All-Conference Honors
  • 51 students earned All-Conference Honorable Mention Honors
  • Several individual and group state champions
  • 2 All American athletes
  • 10 Ponies signed with Division I & II Colleges
