Future kindergarteners and their parents have been gathering at Stillwater Area Public Schools locations across the district for Kindergarten Orientation. Even though fall is six months away, we know how important it so to get children and their parents ready and excited for the transition into Kindergarten.
The hour-long orientation consisted of arts and crafts, story time, and Legos and finished off with a bus ride for the children. For many who had for years watched their older siblings get on the bus, it was an important moment. The goal of these activities was to introduce the kids, and their parents, to some of the experiences they will have in kindergarten, while at the same time letting them meet each other and their teachers. Parents also had time to meet with the principal to discuss what they can expect when their child begins classes. Parents and their children are welcome to visit their elementary school whenever they wish, even before kindergarten classes begin next fall, to help everyone be comfortable with the new setting and prepare for that big first day.
