Homecoming Festivities Continue into the Weekend

It has been a busy week here in District 834 as we have celebrated being Ponies and all of the  Pony Pride in the community. The week started strong when students went out into their communities to “Paint the Town Red.” Many local business participated and had their windows painted to show their Pony Pride. The Powder Puff Football game was a huge hit, and the residents at Boutwells loved crowning their first ever Senior Citizen’s Homecoming King and Queen. Congratulations to Queen Loretto VanGrasstek and King Earl Coleman! They won out of a nominee pool of 120 candidates!

But the fun didn’t stop there. The football team came out to cheer on the Adapted Soccer team at their game versus Wayzata and the annual Intramural Rock, Paper Scissors Tourney saw some serious competitors. There were also lots of varsity, B, and JV competitions to watch all week long.

Oak-Land Junior and Stillwater Junior High Schools got into an all-out door decorating competition. Students had the chance to show their Pony Pride by decorating the doors of their advisory teacher, we’ve posted some of the doors in our online album and have also created a “Doors of Homecoming 2013” poster, a spoof on “The Doors of Stillwater.”

SAHS students involved in clubs and activities visited the district’s 10 elementary schools and two junior highs this morning to hand out Pony Pride wristbands from The Partnership Plan and in many cases they did the morning announcements or led students in songs and dances - check out this video of the SAHS students dancing with Kindergartners from Rutherford.

Students celebrated at a Homecoming Pep Fest today at which the SAHS Homecoming King and Queen were crowned. Congratulations to King Nick Brevitz and Queen Sadie Thole, Prince Jared Morningstar and Princess Emma Abrahamson! The candidates were:

Queen Candidates:
Emma Abrahamson
Emma Holmes
Lucy Rosenmeier
Clarie Stiff
Sadie Thole

King Candidates:

Nick Alm
Brady Anderson
Nick Brevitz
Alex Jurcoi
Jared Morningstar

All of these fun activities are captured in our online photo album here.
