School board members held a special meeting Thursday morning to direct district administrators to find ways to address a projected $4 million budget shortfall for the 2014-2015 school year. A list of adjustments will be brought to the board for approval at the regular business meeting on March 13.
The newest club at SAHS, the Mock Trial Team, is in its first year and has already been making waves! The team has performed very well and will be on their way to the state competition held March 11-12 at the St. Louis County Courthouse!

School board members last night reviewed the proposed school year calendar for 2014-2015. The proposed calendar was designed to be more family-friendly, with school starting after Labor Day and ending the first week in June. Students would be off for winter break from Dec. 24 to Jan. 2, and spring break would take place March 16-20.

Smart phones, laptops, tablets, even some gaming devices, are already making their way into junior high and high school classrooms across the district and even more will be appearing in the coming year.
The school day could look different in elementary schools across the district next year. The school board heard a recommendation last night to redesign the elementary school day to provide more opportunities for students to expand their creativity, follow their passions, and develop new skills.
